Azim Roy (Orozakhun Saidazimov) is a successful entrepreneur and philanthropist who has been actively supporting social and humanitarian projects in Kyrgyzstan for over 30 years. His personal story and life challenges have greatly influenced his desire to help others.

Personal Story and Motivation

Azim Roy was born in 1957 in the village of Chaldovar, located in the Panfilov District of the Chui Region. He lost his mother at an early age and was raised by his grandmother and other relatives. Due to difficult family circumstances, he was sent to a boarding school, where he successfully completed his education. His life journey was marked by significant hardships, which he overcame through perseverance and hard work. These trials instilled in him a profound empathy and a drive to assist those in need, especially children and low-income families.

Main Directions of Philanthropy

Support for His Native Village of Chaldovar

Azim Roy provides ongoing assistance to his native village of Chaldovar, where he has financed and implemented several important infrastructure projects:

  • Paving and improving a street, later named in his honor.
  • Constructing and modernizing the water supply system to ensure residents have access to clean drinking water.
  • Building a children’s playground and a sports stadium on the grounds of the local school.
  • Upgrading the local Muslim cemetery by installing an entrance arch, a restroom, fencing, and landscaping.

Support for Children’s Institutions

Azim Roy is a long-time sponsor of the Belovodsk Children’s Psychoneurological Social Care Facility in the Chui Region. Over the years, his support has included:

  • Purchasing vehicles (GAZ Sobol and Mercedes-Benz), furniture, toys, and equipment for a therapeutic exercise room.
  • Constructing and equipping a modern library, laundry, and drying facilities.
  • Regularly supplying household appliances, food products, diapers, and other essential materials to ensure the children’s comfort.

In addition, Azim Roy provides assistance to other social institutions in Kyrgyzstan, including the “Zharooker” Charitable Foundation for Orphans and Disabled Children, to which he donated a specialized truck.

Humanitarian Aid During the COVID-19 Pandemic

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Azim Roy organized large-scale humanitarian efforts, directly assisting more than 270 families in Panfilov District and the city of Kara-Balta. This support included essential food packages and financial aid for low-income families.

Official Recognition

Azim Roy has repeatedly received high praise and appreciation from Kyrgyzstan’s governmental bodies for his active social and humanitarian work:

  • A medal from the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic in honor of the 95th anniversary of the Kyrgyz police.
  • An Honorary Certificate from the Ministry of Health and Social Development of the Kyrgyz Republic for his cooperation and contributions to social protection for vulnerable groups.
